Creating typographic variety and emphasis using the methods just discussed, or any of a number of other methods, will result in a typographic hierarchy in which the most important or relevant information is the most prominent.

The skillfully constructed typographic hierarchy in Fig. 5, as you can see, determines which words and phrases are read first and which are read last.
