A pioneer goes where no one has gone before. In the field of graphic design, a pioneer is one who goes where everyone else has already gone but gets there in an entirely original and unconventional way.

As a designer, I avoid the cliche at all costs and search for innovative answers to the same old questions. Although it would surely be naive to call myself a pioneer in the field of graphic design, I like to think that, in this way, I am at least striving to become one.

I believe that this way of working will, more times than not, result in the most creative solution to any given problem. I am also keenly aware, however, that in my quest for innovative means of visual communication, I often risk missing the mark entirely.

As a graphic designer, I am plagued by the double-edged nature of my profession. My work is not only an expression of my pioneering spirit, but also my sustenance.

Tibor Kalman mentioned the "tension created by the desire for both self-fulfillment and client satisfaction." I, like all passionate designers, am wholly invested in my work and derive genuine satisfaction from the act of creating. At the same time, however, I realize that I must always keep in mind the wants of my clients.
